Alice In Wonderland

Music by David W. Simmons
Lyrics by Lewis Carroll, William Shakespeare, and David W. Simmons

The Missoula Children’s Theatre presents ALICE IN WONDERLAND, an original adaptation based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. The story begins with Alice and her older sister Margaret reading together. Margaret becomes frustrated as Alice is curious about absolutely everything. Suddenly, a White Rabbit appears from nowhere. After a quick and nonsensical conversation, Alice follows the rabbit to a strange and wonderful place. In the course of her adventures, Alice meets a band of Flowers, the King and Queen of Hearts, the Knave and the rest of the suit of Cards, a giant Caterpillar, a Fish, a Frog, the Duchess, the Cook, the Cheshire Cat, the Gryphon, the Mock Turtle, a group of singing Lobsters, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, the March Hare, the Mad Hatter, the Dormouse and Humpty Dumpty. Through it all, Alice grows “curiouser and curiouser” as to where she is and even who she is. In the end, the answers she seeks are unimportant. Wonderland is all nonsense, anyway. As the White Rabbit explains, “Nonsense is fun!”

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The audition for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Alice in Wonderland” will be held on November 28 at Pahrump Valley High School auditorium from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. There are roles for those students Kindergarten during the school Year of 2016 through 12th grade. Approximately 50-60 local students will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT Tour Actor/Director. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Students wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled starting time and stay for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal begins approximately 15-30 minutes after the audition.

This is a group audition–no advance preparation is necessary, but a smile never hurts. Students should just be ready to come and have a good time!

Pahrump Library Art Gallery

A new show is hanging at the Library. I’ve (Laurie McCaslin) titled this show “Generations.” It features the work of local artist Judy Valine, her daughter Ivone, and her granddaughter, Sarah. The reception for this show will be on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22 from 1:00 to 3:00pm, in the Pahrump Community Library. I moved it from the traditional Friday to Saturday since one of the participants is in school.

Please come see this exceptional display! Come and get acquainted with other members and support this outstanding show….the first time we have featured three artists from one family!

Nye County Courthouse Art Gallery

PACs long-standing commitment to art in public places began when the Nye County Courthouse was built many years ago and has expanded since then to include the Library and Bank of America.  Thanks to PAC artists and others who have shared their talents and beautiful work for the enjoyment of all in our community, with special thanks to Laurie McCaslin and the PAC “hanging committee” for their dedication to making this happen!

The current show will hang until January 7, 2017
