Shadow Mountain Quilters working on projects in 2008

This multi-talented group of women meets every Thursday to sew and visit. On any meeting day you are likely to see us working on quilts, knitting, crocheting and embroidering, etc. Show and tell is always fun and inspiring. Every third Thursday, we extend one of our meetings to an “all-dayer” from 9am to 4pm and quarterly, we add a potluck; there is some wonderful creativity on these days and a class or special project teaches us something new. The Shadow Mountain Quilters are committed to helping their community through donations of quilts and knitted or crocheted items to several local charities every year, as well as weekly donations to the United Methodist Church Food Bank.

We meet at the Ruud Community Center located at the corner of Basin and Hwy 160 on Thursdays from 9am to 1pm; some of us bring sewing machines to work on projects and others do handwork. We have a monthly business meeting on the 2nd Thursday, followed by sewing. Please check our calendar for upcoming events and meetings.

Shadow Mountain Quilters produce the annual Quilt and Fiber Arts Show for PAC (Pahrump Arts Council) held in February each year. We create an annual opportunity quilt and the winning ticket is drawn at the end of the show. Some of the proceeds from this show are added to the PAC Scholarship Fund.

Come join us for a wonderful display of quilts and crafts, shop at the vendors, put in a bid for a handmade item at the Silent Auction and enjoy a demo or two. For more information, contact Joyce Higginbotham of Shadow Mountain Quilters, at
